Public Consultation

People resist change when they don't understand or agree with the goals, methods or timing of a proposed change.

Public ConsultationWhile having a responsive stance is key to a successful public involvement program, determining both who should be involved and how to involve them are equally important. This requires an understanding of what level of involvement your organization wants and how the approach will be received by your will be received by various public stakeholders.

As with any project, there are a variety of ways to approach it. No one way is the "right" way, but each has consequences. So it is important to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the techniques you are considering and whether they fit your overall purpose in implementing a public involvement program. The degree to which you involve your the public can include a variety of approaches.

In a workshop setting you will:

  • learn the benefits of a dialogical approach to resolving public controversy
  • learn specific techniques for involving your publics
  • design a program for your project or proposal

Custom formats:
We can work with you to custom design a set of workshops to meet your training needs. We will teach your staff practical techniques to prevent and resolve public controversy through meaningful involvement of your publics. Four to 25 participants can be accommodated. We can bring this session to your workplace or arrange for off-site facilities.
